The Some Ideas Collective intentional community, established in August of 2009 as one of the primary foci of the SIC, is situated in Braddock, PA. We moved here with the intention of establishing a permanent residence for some of the members of the SIC and a base of operations for its administrative elements. Our hope is that by putting time, effort, and money up front into designing, building, and owning our living space—and by living collectively—we can grant ourselves an additional degree of autonomy and minimize the overhead cost of daily life, thereby empowering ourselves to pursue our individual creative and intellectual interests. Additionally, we see sustainable, egalitarian collective living as an end in and of itself.
